ABS & Brake light on

I have a 01 4x4 and my ABS & brake light are on intermintantly. When the lights are on the brakes feel ok, but when the lights are out the brakes sem to pulsate. My speedo and cruise control are working fine. I ohmed out the rear wheel sensor and I did get a reading. Any ideas?

I'm curious also. I just swapped to 4.10 gears. After I got my truck back I noticed my lights on also.

Fluid is topped off. All fuses look good too.

More than likely it is the speed sensor. I had the same problem with my 03 and took it to the dealer and that turned out to be the problem. Took them about 30 mins to repair/replace.

Saw somewhere in here that you can use an ohm meter to check to see if it's still good or not. If so what should I read on the meter?

I got an 06 with the same problem, and its a speed sensor causing the problem.

I though if it was the speed sensor your speedometer would not work. I'm curios as well because my lights are on also, and my air bag light comes on and off too?

Ok, let me make sure that I got this straight. If the ABS and brake lights are on and the speedo and cruise works it's the rear speed sensor. IF the lights are on and the speedo does not work properly then it's one of the other sensors.

The other speed sensor is in the tranny/transfer case. My understanding is, depending on the year of the truck, that this sensor may only be used to tell the computer to pay attention to the rear axle speed sensor, and is not actually used to reflect speed.
These goofy things the manufacturer does are what makes it so hard to diagnose these problems.

the manuals don't have one in the transmission or the transfercase well at least mine don't, I know the automatics do. The only sensor mine has in the transmission is the backup light. I would love to get this thing figured out it drives me nuts.
