'97 won't start- dern thing
I need this like I need a third eye...
1)27* morning
2)cycled wait to start-turns over
3) bled lines after fuel filter
4)still no start
I can hear a leak someplace under? the rail, but can't find it. It hisses/whines when I pump the manual fuel pump. I'd say its coming from the front and not back by the fuel return line which was new last year anyway.
Thanks
Jimmy

My prime bulb itself has been leaking slightly lately. Not too sure about your rig, are you certain that the heater is actually heating when you cycle it?
Sorry - not too much help, good luck!

make sure the fuel shut off solenoid is working properly. Or disconnect it and wire it up and try to start. If you hand prime the fuel system, you will get a buzz when pumping it, at least mine does. Most "not starting problems" i've encountered are related to a fuel problem, not saying bad fuel, but not getting any, ie lift pump, bad filter, fuel solenoid, etc. There is little electrical to go wrong on these trucks. Hope this helps. Let me know if you find anything else.
Hissing or "singing" as you pump the primer button is normal, it is the fuel rushing past the overflow valve.
Suggest as others have, pull the fuel shutoff all the way up and wire it to check for function.
Mine starts down to zero without plugging in or a working grid heater, so I will lay you money you have a fuel issue.

Bingo! A call to my mechanic pegged that one. I was leaning there myself, but it had been so long since reading about how to check it I was for awhile under-educated. (that'd be "numbasasitck" in layman's terms)Anyway, we put in a new one along with relays etc.
