96 ram clutch!!!!!!!!

My ram is having clutch problems. When you push the clutch in to put it in gear it will not go. You will have to lift off the pedal about 2 to 3 inches to get it to actually fall into gear. When you do this, you can push the clutch the rest of the way to the floor(like when starting and trying to engage the switch)and the truck will start moving like it would when you are letting the clutch out. Obviously, its is only a small amount but it is enough that the truck will start rolling easily on flat ground and enough that the tranny will not go into gear when the clutch pedal is depressed fully. Ive checked the slave cylinder and its not leaking and the fluid is full. Im away from home and ive not had a chance to check it...any ideas????

Have you forced it into gear and bent forks causing it to start the tranny turning after you pass the neutral point.

Does the clutch pedal feel like it has too much free play, or any other unusual feel? You have one of the following problems, I would think.

-hydraulic. Master or slave bypassing internally. Also inspect master cyl. mounting, and pedal/pushrod for slop or bending.

-broken clutch fork or pivot ball. Does the pedal feel very stiff or notchy through its travel?

- piece of clutch disc lining has broken off and become wedged up,preventing full disengagement. Look into the bell housing and see if you can see chunks of lining material inside.

Can anyone add anything?
