95 Auto That Cuts Out Around 2200

My 95 auto cuts out around 2200, it sounds like a governer hits, then it jumps up like its supposed to 3000 or so. whats up with this i dont like it.
and the truck white smokes and lopes so i turned up the star wheel and the idle and still nothing, no black, higher idle but no black. does the boost screw on the back of the afc need to be messed with? if i slide my stock plate foward does the governer arm need an adjustment.

It could be a number of things but I would start with changing the overflow valve.

White smoke is a sign of slipped timing. It's a good idea to check the gov arm anytime you slide your plate around.

its fuel pressure related...start with the overflow valve...the spring in the valve goes out over time...new part isnt too expensive...after that i would get your timing advanced...roughly 120$ (for me it was)

the white smoke...sputtering and spitting that comes out the ewxhaust at higher rpms is a sign of low timing...i had the same thing...anything over 2400rpms on mine and it would sputter and smoke like a storm...timing to 16 cured it...its like butter from idle to 3400rpms

Mine also acts like it is missing around 2100 to 2200 rpm but smooths out above that. I have changed the lift pump and added an aux. lift pump near the fuel tank, didn't make any difference.........good luck

stboki, I think the one your working on is a 24valve it is electronically time. If you have any boxes on the truck I would try to remove it completly and see if the problem stays if it does pull the codes, you could have IP problems. STACKED, did all of this start before or after you started turning everything up? I have seen trucks that would act like this when the owners pushed everything forward plate, starwheel,AFC, they would cut out, miss, just run like crap at high rpms, but move everthing back a 1/3 or so and it smoothed out, but if that is your problem then you would benefit from some more timing.

no it was doing it before i turned it up, havent pushed the plate foward yet. wanted to figure out the problem first. where is this over flow valve located? also if im going to kill the KDP and already had the front cover off would it b easier to do the timing myself? if so how would i do that?

well i went against everybody's advise and went ahead and ground a 100 plate all the way back, afc all the back and turned the full throttle screw in and this is awesome. no more loping still has white smoke haze but the power is great. motor sounds ten times better. I'm not sure how long the tranny will last but i will try to take it easy
Have a question though if i decide to run the valves with companion mode when the valves are opposite on #6 does that just happen once in a revolution or does his happen once on compression and one on firing.

do you mean you pushed everything forward towards the front of the engine or did push it towards the driver seat?
