hey guys the other day on my way to work i noticed my truck was missing at about 1000-1500 rpm's. I don't feel a power loss at all when it's missing either. Any help with this problem would be most appreciated.

 

Can you describe the miss any better? Usually, if a cylinder is dropping out for any reason, there will be a loss of power associated with the lack of fire in the affected cylinder(s)

 

well I might be loosing a little bit of power but it's too little too really know for sure. Today i adjusted the valves and put a new fuel filter on it and it idles like a dream but still that miss. Is it possible my pump is giving out/ but I thought that when a VE went out it was real quik this has been going on for about two weeks and is progressivly getting worse but like i said theres not really a noticable power loss

 

Any smoke associated with the miss?

With the help of an assistant, try cracking the injectors while it's missing to see if you can narrow it down to a specific cylinder.

 

if it was an injector problem wouldent it miss at all RPMs?

 

Not necessarily. An injector can misfire when you get to certain RPM & load; go above or below that combination, and it goes away, or is drowned out by the rest of the engine.

That said, I'd say check your injectors, but get ready to need some pump work. Bgilbert had a truck do something similar to yours, and he put a different (spare) pump on, and it worked just fine.

Try manually pumping the lift pump, it should feel like it's pumping for a few s trokes... when it builds up pressure, it will feel like it's not pumping anymore. You can come back later and try again, and it will 'feel' like it's pumping again until it builds up pressure again. Make sure it's not on the cam lobe, bump the starter if it is.
