6spd clutch problem??

I am having an occasional and somewhat disturbing problem with my clutch. Hopefully I can explain this....

Sitting, idling at a light, with the clutch disengaged(clutch pedal pushed to the floor), the clutch will slowly engage without me letting up on the clutch. It doesn't always do this. I first noticed the problem when in reverse with my travel trailer attached. Whenever the clutch is worked back and forth a little is when the problem usually happens(like when you're backing a trailer into a tight spot)

When it happens the gearshift will "lock" into the gear its in and I have to shut the truck off to get it out of gear.

I have an Edge EZ on it and I know this wears out the clutch faster, but the clutch doesn't slip at all, in any gear or at WOT. It shifts flawlessly and runs like the wind.

I've checked for leaks and other obvious things; could the slave cylinder be bad?

Maybe the pressure plate springs are getting weak?

I really need help on this since it's been going on for about 4 months and now the Little Woman is afraid to drive it.

What do you guys think? Has this happened to anyone else before??

Re:6spd clutch problem??

Only one of 2 things, master cyl or slave cyl is leaking past itself (internal hemorage) unless there is actually fluid running out somewhere.
thats it there is no more and t.m.o

Re:6spd clutch problem??

Anyone know how much a slave cylinder is for an NV5600?

I hate to just throw parts at it, but that maybe what I have to do.

Re:6spd clutch problem??

My '94 Dodge 3500 4x4 CTD 5 spd. did the same thing and I had to replace the clutch master cylinder. On that truck the master/slave came as a sealed unit and had to be replaced as one. I don't know if it's the same on these late models or not. Back then you couldn't bleed them or change just one, had to be replaced as a whole. Or at least that was what Dodge told me I had to do then!

Update on my problem.... Got a great price on clutch slave assembly...$155 from Olsen Dodge in Nebraska. Here in Denver the same part was $229. Anyway, my clutch works like new again. Interestingly, The new setup is a two-piece deal, whereas the original is all one piece. Total time to install was 90 min.

BTW- I highly recommend Olsen Dodge for parts guys, excellent service and great prices.
