4X4 Problem

:-[Ok here is my problem. My transfer case engages (brand new vaccum switch on top of the case) you can definately tell it is engaging. However my front axle is not engaging i put a brand new Vaccum actuator on it and it still does no engage. Do i have a vaccum leak?? or a broken vaccum hose??? If so where should i look for this at?? If not what could it be? :-[
thank you
-Ian

Re:4X4 Problem

The first thing that I would look for is a vacuum leak.
Check the main vaccum line that feeds the transfer case.
I have seen more than one with a hole worn through it.
Let us know how you make out. ???

Re:4X4 Problem

take the two lines off at the axel and see if there is vacuum in one.(in 2 wheel drive) Now shift into 4x4 and see if the other line has vacuum. If a no go follow your lines back to the pump on the same shaft as the power steering pump. My actuating diaphram had gear oil in it causing a "hydraulic lock" diabling it to transfer the fork into the proper position. take it off and turn it upside down and move the fork back and forth a couple of times.
