47RE Holding Second Gear

I posted this in the 24V Engine and Drivetrain section as well.

I'm heading out of town shortly and don't want to leave the GF with a problem that may cause larger problems if ignored.

Good evening,

Just finished up my 47RE rebuild. Truck is doing the same thing it did before the rebuild (to a much lesser extent). When I come to a stop, the transmission stays in second gear.

1) The solenoid and transducer are new, so they're out.

2) The bands (as well as everything else) are brand new, and freshly adjusted.

3) Operating temperature ~165f degrees Fahrenheit

Not sure what's going on here... everything looked great when I was inside the case.

Any suggestions?

No codes. It did this before the overhaul. Is there something, not affected by an overhaul, that would cause it to remain in 2nd?

The computer could do it so can the selonoids in the trans. I have seen brand new ones be bad right out of the box.

I had that problem, swapped out the solenoid and 'ducer, with the same results.
I swapped the Valve Body for a reworked Goerend unit and a Goerend Torque Converter.
Drives better than new, best thing I've done for the truck, never looked back.

Is there a chance that there might be gunk in the VB? I douched the VB pretty good with solvent, but did not disassemble it, as I did not have the Transgo diagram showing what ***** went where (I recall there being some changes made with the shift kit).

I would suspect it is something purely mechanical based on the fact that manually shifting the trans into neutral causes it to go into first when shifted back into drive.

???

...great. So, does anyone happen to have the destructions from Transgo with respect to which check ***** stayed and which ones went?

At least dropping the VB isn't a big job... by comparison. I am running out of time though.

I didn't see anyone bring up governor pressure sensors. I'm not sure if thats what they're saying the solenoids are but I've had this problem with my truck before and also my friends truck. We had them replaced and haven't had a problem since.

I have replaced both the governor pressure transducer (sensor) and solenoid. I think we can rule those out.

I did pull the codes again last night... P1693. I believe this was due to me screwing around with the Edge Juice box.

P1693 is the companion code...it means that there may be another code stored and you need to use a OBDII scanner to extract it.

X2

Also like i told you in your other thread get a gauge on the test ports and see what the pressures are doing. Diagnose the problem and then go in and fix it.
There is a flow chart and test pressures and steps to take in the service manual for a reason.

Or you can continue to guess and throw parts at it if you want to after all it is your truck and your money

Leaven Out Checkball

There is 3 pieces to the VB,when u pull it apart there is one of them that has the mid plate bolted to it there is a small ball on one side that can fall out so have the VB setn on the table as if it was in the truck and it will stay put there are 6 in the main VB and 2 between the mid plate. I leave the plastic 1 out and some times there not there from the factory
