47RE or 48RE

I got an issue with my 2003, 2500. I want a beefer tranny. The Dodge dealership says according to the VIN I have a 47RE, the tech support at ATS performance says thats not always the case. I don't want to order a new transmission to find out it's the wrong one and have to pay shipping for the return. Does anyone know an easy way to tell?? The date of manufacture of the truck is 10-02
Thanks guys

10-02 should be a 47re, I can't believe that the dealer would be wrong doing it by VIN #.
