'03 CTD S.O. Auto - How do I tell if it's 47RE or 48RE?
My brother just bought an '03 CTD Standard Output 4x4 4door long bed. I understand from reading at this site that they started putting the 48REs with the Standard Output and a 2003 could have either one. What should he look for to see if he has the 48RE or the 47RE? Are there different casting numbers on the transmission?

I have also heard that the 47re is being phased out completely.

Thanks for the info RadioRex. He's had it for longer than Mid January so likely it's the 47RE.

Looks like a case of "The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese."
