3 codes went off please help
I was driving my truck this morning. 3 codes went off. It started running poorly. I did the trick with switching the key on 3 times...i got the codes
P0251 Injection pump
P2509 ecm/Pcm power Intermittent
0088 fuel rail pressue to high
anyone have any idea whats going on with my truck? Where do I start?
It still runs but has no power. Will it hurt my truck to drive it like this to a mechanic or should it be towed? I already drove it 80 miles or so because I was out in the mountains.
Where do I start?
2004 dodge ram 305 horse, 6 speed manual, no mods all stock.

You do not stipulate the year of the truck, but if it is in the 03-04.5 series check the wire that runs from the A/C compressor pressure sensor to the firewall. You will likely find it scrubbed through where it turns up past the engine and makes that final run to the back. Fix the insulation and the problem will go away.
If you were flopping the key around and then the problem happened, you need to disconnect the batteries and turn on the headlights, then go have a cup of coffee and let it die for at least a half hour.
When it has completely drained all the capacitors in electrical system the ECM will reset to default.
Then turn off the headlights, reconnect the batteries, and start the truck and let it run at an idle - no more than an idle- for one minute. Then shut it off and let it set 30 seconds, then restart and the problem will be gone.
The third generation trucks should never be "code scanned" by flopping the key around. It sends transient spikes down the buss and can kill the ECM and PCM, and may require a reflash by the dealer, which is a waste of a couple hundred dollars a shot.

There was also a ecm update to take care of erronious "fuel rail psi too high" issues.
...and you don't have an "injection pump". Only a high pressure pump. Injection event is controlled by electronic injectors. Fuel lines, and fuel log is merely a high psi resivoir.

Wow I wish I could fix my truck by just unhooking the batteries!
All you will do there is erase any usable information that may be needed to diagnose the problem. Yes the wiring is an issue on these trucks by the a/c, but that doesn't usually give the codes that he has - I have pm'd him with the most likely cause of the problem which is the FCA ( fuel control actuator). That will give the pump code and the high rail pressure codes as well. As for not cycling the key to check codes - horse hockey!
If your dealer told you that , they should be strung up and drug through town!
Funny stuff right there!

A flash update is basically a "fix" for a discovered software problem or glitch. They can hook up and download new info into the ecm. In your particular case though, I don't think the flash will work. It would still be a good idea to get it done. I try to make sure mine ( and my customers) get their modules updated at least once a year, and especially before they go out of warranty while Dodge will foot the bill!
