24 valve won't start

I have a 1999 Dodge 2500 with a 24 valve Cummins and this morning (last 2 mornings) it was below 0 and wouldn't and still won't start. I didn't have it plugged in last night but have had it plugged in all day today and still won't start. It turns over fine, and i can hear the lift pump come on, also checked to see if i have fuel at the filter housing and i am getting fuel after the filter housing before the injection pump. What do you all think it may be? It started fine yesturday morning in the cold, dropped my mom off at work and then fueled up then parked it, but no start today. When i turn the key off i can hear the lift pump cycle for a few secs. I hope its just bad fuel. Any help would be great.

Do you add an anti-gel fuel additive to your fuel? Power Service (white bottle) will do. You'll need to get the truck warm. Do you have a space heater or a garage?

Hearing the LP will not tell you anything, you must have a fuel pressure guage to maintain proper LP pressure.

I didn't put any additive in it. Where would i go to get some Power Service? The fuel pressure guage was the next thing on my list to get. Its suppose to warm up tommarow to teh 40's so hopefully that will help.

Any local truck stop or WalMart will have PS.

That should help, but I would put 16 oz the PS in every tank year round. Never let your tank get below 1/2 in town, and get the guage ASAP. You may have water freezing in your fuel ines also, hopefully the warm temps will help.

Let us know.

This happened to me the other day- I was in Utah and in a hurry. I did NOT put PS in that tank. I get back to Bozeman, and the next day it goes to -20. I did not have it plugged in. I went out that morning to start it, it ran for about 10 seconds and it died. I cycled the LP 2-3 times, with the grid heaters as well. I had to crank it about 6-7 times for 30 seconds each. For the last 2 cranks, it would semi-catch, but not stay running. It finally caught, and I let it idle in gear with the e-brake on (keeps my EGT's at about 550).

Here's the trick. and I'm serious about it. NO JOKES! put some in the tank then jump into the back of the bed. Start jumping up and down and shifting your weight from side to side. Then cycle the glow plugs twice (turn the key to on, not start. wait for light to go off, then do it again.) Then start it right up. This happened to me. Don't bother plugging in the truck if you don't add this stuff. The plug really just helps once you get her started, not to help start her. Best of luck. Any other questions, let us all know.

Must be starting a Ford or Chevy again...
I think he was referring to the "GRID HEATER" on a CUMMINS!
