2005 Dodge Trans Problem - PLEASE ADVISE

I have an 05 Dodge 4wd diesel, auto. I lost 2nd gear yesterday. Could it be something simple? I believe I have a lemon - had to rebuild the front end every year and am not rough on my truck. If I need to rebuild the trans should I use a heavy duty rebuild kit and if so where is the best (inexpensive) place to get one. PLEASE HELP - I AM FORCED TO DRIVE A CAR!!!!!

Sounds like you lost your 2gear shift band. You might be able to have it retightened at a tranny shop but I doubt it. How many miles are on the truck? Try Goerends website for replacment bands and parts for a rebuild. I dont think he has clutches on there though

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Lack of maintaince on tranny fluid changes and particually proper band adjsutment has shortened life of band. You can try adjusting but remember, if threads no longer show above jamb nut the band is no longer usable.

I have 100,000 miles on the truck, not hard miles. I did a trans service at 50,000 and expected to do another soon. Someone told me it may be a switch that went bad. The fluid looks and smells fine. Bad day on day two - brakes seized up on the CAR!!! I need a break!!!
