Exclamation 2001 front brake change help

I can't get my front calipers off the caliper carrier! I have the shop manual, but I must be missing something because I can't get the stupid things off for the life of me! It says to " tilt the top of the caliper off of the carrier to remove" but I can't get it to come off! HELP!!! Any ideas? Thanks.

Once you have removed the bolts that hold the caliper on get a big hammer and start hitting on the caliper, first on the bottom and then the top, driving toward the rear of the vehicle. These things do not come of easily, your not going to get it off with just your hands, it will need a little persuasion "see big hammer above."

If you open the bleed screw a little and tip the caliper back forth it will come off easily.

I can get the whole caliper assembly off of the mount to the rotor. The problem is getting the caliper off the caliper carrier so I can get the pads out! Any ideas how to do that? It looks like the slides for the caliper wont let the caliper come off the carrier.

I figured it out. I didn't pay close enough attention to the manual. It says to unbolt the caliper slde bolts from the carrier. After I figured it out everything went ok. Thanks for the help.
