1st gen door hinge pin/bushings

Can someone explain how to do this?

Which way do the bushings go in the hinge? How about the which part of the hinge- door side or door post side of the hinge?

Get an assistant to hold the door steady, unless they are strong and reliable use a floor jack to support the weight. Knock the pins out with a hammer and punch, then use a chisel to split the bushings and yank them out with pliers.

The bushings go in the post side, flanges facing the door half of the hinge.
