1999 Dodge Ram 2500 reverts to idle continually

My 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 reverts to idle at high speeds....you can wait 5 seconds and push in clutch or switch ignition off and then on and all is okay for about a mile and a half. I have replaced the throttle position sensor, and the lift pump, and put in extra ground wires...all to no avail. I don't have any hair left to pull out......and trucks are running up my tailpipe on the freeway. It does seem to be temperature related, but I'm not sure.......Any suggestions....?

Hate to break the bad news but you are going to have to buy a new VP44. About to replace mine after searching the same problem for about 8 months. Spent alot of money on parts for no reason very frustating. Finally took it to a mechanic that worked for cummins for over 25 years real quick to explain the problem, he finished my sentences before i could, about the symptoms of the problem. It boils down to an internal electrical malfunction on the VP44. Then it can not communicate with the dodge oem so thats why when you turn the ignition off and on it resets for a short amont of time depending on how hot it is. He also didn,t have good words for the VP44 saying it was the weak link to an overall good drivetrain.

Ryanofire, Thanks for the link. After reading the whole article, an idea came to mine. I wonder if the electronic brain which gets heat damaged is coming from the hot fuel or some other source?
