1998.5 runs bad when restarted warm

Ok guys, I have no idea what is going on here. I just got back from the worst snowmobiling trip EVER. we had lots of troubles with about everything you could think of. before the trip my truck gelled up so we put in a new fuel filter and power service 911 the day before we left for our trip. The truck ran excellent all the way there (besides only getting 11 mpg pulling a four place with 4 sleds.) My sled blew up 5 miles down the trail the first day, rented a sled the next day and ran out of gas in BFE Michigan, returned the rental late and had to pay $50 extra. My 8 year old little brother could not handle the cold so a buddy and I end up riding back to our hotel(60 miles away on snowmobile trails) and get the truck and trailer to go pick up the girls and my little brother in Michigan. So we drive the mighty cummins to Michigan(a good 60 miles plus 60 miles out of the way because we had no map) the truck is running excellent. we get to the bar that the girls and my brother are at and shut the truck off and load up the sleds. Fire the beast up and start to drive down the road and all of a sudden its like the truck is gelling again...but it was only off for 10 min MAX, so here we are in the middle of nowhere, no gas stations for at least 30 miles I am at 1/4 tank. OK drive for a while its chugging and spittin and sputterin and I cant take it anymore. I had a bottle of 911, so I pull over and pour it in, take off nice and easy..seems ok, try to accelerate more...same thing happens. So we drive to the nearest fuel station with winter diesel, fill up, take off and still no luck, spitting and sputtering and chugging, but idles like nothing is wrong. We drove it like this all the way back to the hotel, which we arrived to at 1:30AM. 2 days later we leave the hotel runs good, it is now 40 degrees, truck runs great, we make a stop to eat, start truck, runs fine back to almost all the way home, make a stop to spend a gift card at gander mountain, in there for maybe 45 min. start it and it runs fine for a couple miles and then starts to run worse than ever, I pull over and put 911 in even though its 40 degrees out and no diff., start limping it along, not enough power to get past 35 mph, im getting irritated and i mash on it, its spitting and sputtering and bucking and jerking for maybe 4-5 seconds and then clears up and takes off and runs fine the rest of the way home (45 miles) came into the house and find that a pipe froze, cracked, and then unthawed pouring water all over the floor and into the basement. Get the water situation taken care of. I go out to move my truck runs good for a little bit and im trying to back up and now its idling lumpy and doesnt even have enough power to keep backing up with the trailer. I have good fuel pressure I am running the stock LP in the stock location and using a holley blue as a pusher with 1/2 in.lines and A/N fittings. this problem is obviously intermittent and the truck runs great when it actually runs normal. please help me guys?? No CEL's I had dead pedal and the dreaded P0216 code before the upgraded fuel system probably 6 months ago. the only other dying vp sympton since then is bad fuel mileage in the 11-13 mpg range with 4.10 gears and 33's. Sorry for the long post, hope someone can help me.
