12V missing when cold
12V missing when cold
Last night i got the head back on and got it running, but i noticed when the engine is cold that there is a miss that occurs right off of idle. As soon as the temp guage reaches 140* everything runs fine. any ideas?
thanks

By miss right off idle, I presume that it coughs a bit as you are just starting to open the fueling control. If so, double check the linkage on the fuel shutoff lever and make sure it is not hanging up a bit. If that is not the problem, then look at your intake plenum cover and the bolts that hold the heater grids and air horn. You could have a very slight leak in one of those locations that is closing up as it gets warm.
If those are fine and the miss continues, then I would open the valve covers and squirt a bit of Kroil (you will find it in gun shops), or PB Blaster on each valve stem when it is cold and idling. I suspect you will find one valve that when you squirt it the miss will quit. If so, you have a valve guide that is just a touch tight, and you may need to pop that valve's spring and rotate the stem a few times to get the roughness out.
With all you have done, I suspect you changed the overflow valve to the two piece design long ago. But, if not check that too, as it can also cause a low speed stumble.

maybe ur timing isnt where u think it is...maybe ur overflow valve is worn and ur not getting proper fuel pressure...maybe ur fuel filter needs to be changed...maybe ur preheater isnt working...or maybe it was just really cold and u have a diesel truck
