Usually if injector problem then fuel pressure would read lower then set point pressure when cranking. What does fuel pressure read at key on not cranking? If above 500 psi or is it fluctuating at all? Possible fuel pressure sensor then. Pressure limiting valve leaking? I would run those tests firsts.

I talked to the shop today, they said that it was 11000 psi cranking. The mechanic said that anything over 5 should be good enough to at least make it run. The first test they said they are going to do is fuel quality, because the mechanic said that it seems like it should start, so they are going to start with that. If it is the sensor, how expensiveness it, and how long should it take to change out?

11,000 psi cranking is much higher then set point pressure cranking should be around 5,000psi. Did he have the FCA disconnected maybe? Then it would go to max pressure while cranking. Were there any codes stored or active?

so, new news. the tipm is shot, and is the reason that the starter is cutting out. so the shop jumpered out the tipm, and still wouldnt start with the chip (h&s mini maxx) installed. remove the chip back to stock, truck starts and runs. reinstall chip, no start. h&s wants me to return truck to stock (not a good/cheap/easy solution, given the egr and dpf deletes) and drive it like that for a few weeks, because they believe that there is a mechanical issue causing the problem (i.e., prove it is the chip) before doing anything like giving me a new chip. the chip downloads fine, no errors, says it is installed, reads dtcs and all engine parameters... what gives? should i try a smarty and see if that will allow deletes/ work properly? has anyone else had this problem? would a new tipm allow the programmer and pcm to communicate properly? i obviously need to replace the tipm, but will that resolve the issue?

Ps, how much is a new tipm? In Canada we have some pretty wild prices on things, but 600 bucks seems high for a fuse block... And that's without install.

Did they try doing a Restore Vehicle Configuration first? If they have witech support then it doesn't take long. Thats what I would have tried first.

I think the tipm did (or more correctly does, as they STILL havent gotten round to it yet) need to be replaced, as after the truck wouldn't start the first time I was checking fuses, and one of the fuses, which was not popped, btw, had one of the contacts melted off, like someone tried to pull it under load. But they didn't. I checked it, and it had 12V accross the fuse holder, but sort of seemed to indicate a problem to me. Anyway, hope they hurry up (only been sitting 2 and a half weeks in the yard there) and replace the tipm. I need my truck back!
