I installed a brake controller and a gooseneck hitch today and now the truck won't run. It fired a couple times and ran for a few seconds but now it does not fire at all.

I blew a fuse in the brake controller installation process. I replaced it and no change. All the other fuses are ok according to my test light.

The truck has 750 miles on it.

Any ideas?

How did the fuse blow?

Was something short circuited?

 

I blew fuse 12 while connecting the brake controller. The +12V for the brake controller is not switched and I thought it was. It seems likely now that Fuse 28 is also blown. The keyless entry does not work either.

 

If it fired up and died twice and now won't fire you have most likely goofed something and the SKREEM module is no longer recognizing your key.

 

I'm wondering if a voltage spike reset the ECU?

 

I think it is the SKREEM module. Is there any way to get it going again without the scan tool? Where do I get a scan tool?
