05 Ram 3500 Won't start, stuck in the bush
Hello gang...
Well, this is the 2nd time in 2 months my new truck has let me down...
Here's what happened. I went to start the truck this afternoon, and it started a bit rough, but I figured it would be because of the cold (-5 degrees C here). It ran great though and off I went to visit a friends who live way out in the weeds about 45 minutes from civilization. Long story short, a few minutes before I got there, I got out of the truck to take a picture of it, new truck, I'm proud of it, etc. and it sounded like it wasn't running on all 6 cylinders! When I hopped back in and drove away it was quite gutless and left a cloud of grey smoke, but then it cleared up and ran good as new again. After dinner at my friends' place I hopped in again to go home, and cranked 'er over and nothing. I cranked it a few times for about 20 seconds and nothing. I drained the fuel filter and nothing but clean fuel came out. The fuel transfer pump ran after I bumped the starter... It tried to fire once or twice but that was all she did. I had to borrow a car to make it back to town and call chrysler. Any ideas what the problem could be? I still have full warranty (just barely, 600KM left)... The other problem is that the truck is on a forest service road and DC tells me that I'll be on the hook (pun intended) for the tow to a government maintained road, but isn't a forest service road government maintained? I mean, forestry paid to have it plowed... Anyhow, any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks

I should also add that I didn't get any lights or anything during the whole ordeal. I didn't get any codes either, but that could be because I might not be using the correct procedure... I turned the key on and off 3 times and the odometer display read "done". Does this mean there are no codes or am I doing it wrong?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Yup, no codes. How is the oil level (looking for fuel in the oil)? Do you have gauges? Fuel Pressure? If you don't have guages, does the fuel filter holder fill with fuel when you bump the starter?
FMB, thanks for the reply, the oil level was at the top of it's limit, and it's been there since I bought the truck. It didn't smell at all like fuel. I don't have gauges on the truck, no mods or anything, just stock... I'll check all that when I get out there again today.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Jeff, it's not really that cold where the truck is, it's only -6 up there...
I went back up there with the towtruck and we managed to get it going, ran like a pile of
and smoked white smoke. But we managed to get a code out of it, P0341... Anybody know what this is? I looked on troublecodes.org but they didn't have the codes for the 05 model year, but what they had there is "Camshaft position sensor signal".
Of course this has to happen hours away from the closest dealer... Hopefully it's a simple fix!
Thanks for all the help so far.

Check the wiring between the Camshaft Sensor and the ECM, make sure it isn't rubbing on something and shorting out. Do a search here about some wire shorting out under the AC compressor causing issues, I can't remember if this was the wire/issue though.
If you can't see any bad wiring, it is probably your Camshaft Sensor needing replacement, IMHO.
Good Luck
