05 ctd, ROUGH idle and smoke at start up

i went to start my truck thsi morning and it was idleing really really rough, the truck was shaking hard. and white smoke was puffing out the pipe. i turned it off asap checked the oil to see if maybe i had fuel in it and did not notice but the dipstick read normal. started it back up, put it into high idle and after a minute it went away???

oh yeah the CEL did not come on, but i do have a 0237 code that has been there for about two weeks. and dont know why.

i should also add that my attitude monitor freezes up on occasion turning the chip back to stock

does anybody know where i can start looking for a problem??????

try unplugging the attitude and taking it back to stock. that will completly rule out the edge unit. other than that id say an injector prob

check all connections then if that doesnt work, take the edge off. if there is still a problem youll have the edge off so it can go to the dealer.

Mine has done that before. Two bad injectors. It still did it after a reflash and two new injectors. I ran half a bottle of Howes Meaner Power Cleaner in one tank and a quart of 2 stroke in the next, ran it really hard and the problem is gone. I don't know if I had dirty injectors or what. I'm starting to suspect ULSD as the culprit because it still smoked a little with the Howes and went away completely with the 2 stroke. Not enough lube in the fuel I guess.
