'04 Clutch splines on disk
I just received my new clutch which was ordered from a small shop in Ohio. I talked with the guy who built the clutch before I ordered it, and he seemed really knowledgable. so I ordered. I ordered a Borg and Beck plate with 3600# clamp load and a full miba six button per side disk. Now my question is how much spline depth is required the the disk to prevent failure. The center hub of the disk is solid (no Dampener springs) with only about 1/2" of splines. Any suggestions please I plan to install on wednesday. Thanks, Doug
I looked at a stock disk today and measured it. The stock disk has 1 3/8" of spilne contact area. The new disk only has 1/2". I also spoke to gentleman who built the clutch and he said the new hub was hardened metal and I had nothing to worry about. He offered to send me another disk with more spline contact area for free. Should I take him up on the offer? Any input? Thanks
