The first thing to check on the 03 is the wire that leads from the AC sensor back around the engine. It rubs the insulation off and will ground out the fuel injection.

If that is not it, then check the fuel rail pressure relief valve. It gets leaky and will keep the rail from pressurizing. Symptoms are generally lousy performance, hard starting for some time, and a rough idle before it fails to start.

The A/C error (647) in combination with the ECM fueling calibration error (602) would lead me to check the A/C sensor first.

However, your problems could also be from corroded terminals at various places if some moron has been using a pressure washer on the engine. That is an absolute do not do on the Cummins diesels since 1998.5. If this has been the case correction can easily run hours and hours to diagnose and correct.

OMG, don't use ether! The ether flows right past your heating grid. They can get hot enough to ignite your ether and launch your intake manifold.... ouch.

The wiring he was talking about is at the a/c pressure transducer. Here is a pic of it's location. Look at the wiring very closely. Between that and the crank sensor code, I think that's the direction I would look towards first. The j1850 circuit shorted to ground would be an indicator of the same problem.
