01 Wont Start

Hello everyone.

I have a 2001 2500 QC CTD 6spd with a super chip. My vp-44 gave out on me a day or two ago know, so I replaced it and the lift. Now I have a new problem. I was driving home yesterday and my truck just quit running like I had turned the key off. When I got it home I cracked the injector lines to see if there was still air in the system and cranked the truck over, it took awhile to get it to run again but it did. So I took it for a drive and the same thing happened but it is taking way longer to start this time . Anyone have any other ideas? I have tried the key trick but it does not give any codes. I have verified that there is fuel in the tank. The fuel filter is new. The lift pump runs and I do have fuel at the injector lines at the head. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You say you just replaced the VP-44 and the lift pump? Maybe a loose electrical connection at the VP? Maybe a bad relay?

Fill out your sig so we all can see what you have, you know, to help us narrown down the issue at hand.

Thats correct, when the VP-44 went i did the lift pump at the same time. I checked the relay under the hood that controls the fuel system and it seems fine.

Possibly the crank position sensor. Actually the cam position sensor on the 01 I think. Up behind the VP. You should get a code however. You may have bumped the wire to it on the VP r & r and it is making intermittant contact.

Have you got good ground from the batteries?? good batts??

Just tossing ideas.

I finally got the truck to start again last night, then it died.

I checked all the connections that I could get at. They seem fine. Also the batts are good.

The truck is showing a P1694 code. Any ideas?
