What kind of symptoms do you have? Does it turn over like normal without firing? Does it fire some but not enough to get going? Do you have any codes? All they need is air and fuel to run. If it does not fire chances are there is no fuel to the injectors. Start by checking fuel pressure. Then make sure you are getting fuel to the VP. After that try cracking an injector line and see if you are getting fuel. The fuel should spray out of the cracked injector line not dribble out. Give this stuff a try and let us know how you make out.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I saw one do the EXACT same thing as yours a few weeks ago, and it was the injector pump. Ether to start, and then it would run, but not idle very well. I'm not sure, but the fuel your getting to the injector lines may be what's being pushed thru by the fuel pump.

Do you have any codes? You may have to find a high dollar code reader, but you'll find you probably have a 216, which is the injector pump failure.

DON'T take it back to a Dodge dealer unless it's still in warranty! Find a good place that understands the VP 44 and take it there. If there is not one in Corsicana, you can probably find one in Waco.

I hope I'm wrong.

A 24v has to have good batteries to start. If the voltage falls below the "safe" margin when crankin, the batteries are on the verge of being to low to fire the truck.

If the truck starts with either, or is hard to start when hot, then it's 99% the injection pump.

My bet is on the abtteries, being that cold weather is just coming around...

See if it's pulling any codes. Turn the key on, then off; on then off; on and leave it. See what displays in the odometer and get back to us.

Should be coming out high pressure.
Just dribbling out tells you your injection pump is gone, and the lift pump is just pushing fuel through it.

Just a dumb question, but does it have DIESEL in it (the tank) or did it get filled with something else by mistake? Also try using a booster battery on it, the VP44 is a rotary type of injection pump and they will not pump if the cranking speed is to low. A 5 rpm drop in cranking speed can make the difference if the batteries are borderline. Hope this helps.

Get a fuel pressure guage to avoid this in the future.
