Writing Essay on Diesels

Hey guys, my english teacher assigned us to do an essay on anything we want. The purpose of the essay is to help us with our organization of thought and such. But anyways, I decide to do mine on diesels. "Is diesel the fuel of the future?" is the question I was thinking about answering in the essay. It doesn't have to be long, an intro, two or three support paragraphs, then a conclusion. So, do any of y'all have good ideas for supporting reasons? I tend to suffer from that writer's block where when I think about something I will draw a total blank. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Im just gonna say enjoy the high school days. Now the only time I get to write an essay that short is in a 1/2 hour test. Most papers require 10pages now days. I would say one supporting reason is obviously mileage. Think of our high power rigs still pulling great economy. Another, theyre fun .... okay the first one would work anyways....

Just outline it. Write an introductory paragraph that breifly touches on each of the three of four area you want to write about in depth. Then give each topic it's own paragraph or two, then write the conclusion that hits some of the highlights. Basically, tell them what your going to say (intro), then say it (body), then tall them what you said (conclusion).

Make sure you have one overarching theme to the essay-- a statement that each paragraph can be tied to.

For example, you use as your theme/topic sentence/thesis: "Diesel engines are the way of the future." Then make three our four topic explaining why: 1) recent technological advancements 2) biofuel/renewable fuel compatibility 3) efficiency benefits of the diesel cycle, etc...

Then tie it all together with a concusion-- an item of trivia or relevant factiod is often appropriate. Something like "while over half of new vehicles sold in Europe are Diesels, the US buys just 3 in 1000 vehicles with diesel power" and tie that into your theme.

By the way, if you steal this as your actual essay, you should be ashamed

Efficiency has long been an advantage of a diesel but the latest technology makes them cleaner burning than gas engines . Do some research on the Mercedes Bluetec engine . That's the diesel available in the Jeep Grand Cherokee . Research on diesel engine history will show they were first designed to run on vegetable oil .

yeah, efficiency, you could touch on the fact that cars run at roughly 14 to 1 and diesels are more around 80 to 1. Throw in that big word, stoichiometric efficiency........ah, don't trust my spelling for that big word...and I'm not doing a spell check....

I know, I wish all of the essays were this short. The purpose isn't on writing essays in an entirety, but organizing ideas then putting them into writing. I might put in a little bit of that fun factor rbrettctd mentioned, and quite a bit of HOHNs suggestion lol. Thanks for the help guys.

Another topic could be also that diesel is a lot easier to refine than gasoline since diesel fuel is pretty much the left overs.

And with that being said you could go into more detail on why it is more expensive than gasoline. I'd like to hear that one.

Supply and demand . They don't use gasoline to heat houses in the Northeast .
