Witnessed death wobble today

was driving down HWY 290 in Houston today and a guy going 65 to 70 in his late model ram 2500 mega changed lanes and BAM! I have never seen a front tire move like it was moving at those speeds. It was VERY scary, it seems as the guy experience it before as he quickly got it under control.

The wheel and tires were bouncing up and down, back and forth violently. Suprised something wasnt instantly broken!

What a cheek squeezer!!!
It is best if you are the driver!!!

Mine did it at 75 on the 4 lane. Glad there was no one close, they would of complained of the smell!!!

Alignment and replace any loose parts.

I've seen it on a jeep at slow speeds... It looked like the tires were bolted to jelly as bad as they shook on all axis...

Happened to me in dad's 03 Dually. I had the 30ft G/N on running empty doing about 70 mph. Scared the bejesus out of me when it started. Thanks to DTR I knew what it was right away and was able to get the truck back under control. Its only happened to me one time but that was enough.

Never happened in my old 93, but it happened a few times in the 98. That's what we get when they try to make trucks ride 'nice' by replacing leaf springs with coils.

I have had it happen to me in many of the ford towtrucks I used to drive and it is scary!!! I saw a guy the other day in a ford wrecker towing a car about 50 mph and it started a death wobble. I was next to him so I backed off when I saw the wheels flopping all over and he just kept on going like nothing was wrong at all never even slowed down!!!!

Love how he's not wearing his seat belt while aggravating the death wobble...

Can I say.... "HOLY **** !!!! "

I guess there's not a good explanation of "why" this occurs...., otherwise they'd have fixed it by now...

Very educational. Thanks for taking the time to educate me! I'm thinking the ntsb needs to do a little oversight on this one. WTH!

Wow that is scary.

So what really causes it?

Does aftermarket tires, rims and suspension aggravate it?

This looks more like demonic possession of a vehicle.

I'm thinking the ntsb needs to do a little oversight on this one.

Ill bet if Obama's Suburbans started dancing around the road like that it would get fixed.

With all of the local PO-PO driving SUV's wonder it if has happened to them?

Jim
