I was reading a Yachting magazine the othr night in the Dr's office and came across their issue about diesel engines in boats!!

Do you think Yanmar or Volvo Penta will ever go into trucks,SUVs ,or cars?? Yanmar seems to be getting into many boats these days!!

Also did I see 2 oil filters side by side on a marine dsl??? Wasn't the fuel filter either!! Really good article!! Talked about the first diesel engine ever made. I think it is the May issue of YACHTING!!

 

I think if you looked around you'd find all different types of diesel engines being put in to every type of vehicle you can imagine, they just aren't in the US because of pollution requirements.

 

Yep, it's amazing how readily available diesel vehicles are outside of the US. Personally i'd love to see the Isuzu DMAX (not to be confused with the Duramax) sold in the US market. It's a midsize truck with a 3.0L turbo diesel. Check out the specs:

Why should they? They command high prices for their marinized engines. I paid $15k for a small Cummins marine engine with raw water cooling, that otherwise would have been $6k for a truck engine.

I've had Cummins KTA50's (V-16's) with four oil filters and fuel seps.
