Why I love my truck!
Why I love my truck!
You alway hear abot the bad things like 53 castings, goofy ABS, VP44 etc. BUT
Sometimes you gotta look at the good things. I'll start.
I had to get my son from VA Tech on Wednesday, total move out for the summer. He drives a 90 wrangler and couldn't fit all his clothes, not to mention a bike, rerigerator, computer and microwave. So Since I had to go up anyway I figured I would just trailer the Jeep back. That way we could get some quality time. I rented a two axle car carrier from U-Hurl and it was a monster heavy galvanized steel, no chintzy aluminum here. I hooked it up and off I went. A couple of times I forgot the thing was behind me. Up and over the Blue Ridge trail I never even thought to turn off the over drive. 65 - 70 mph the whole way. I got 19.45 MPG calculated.
Any good truck could have done that.
On the way back now with the golden parachute of a Wrangler on top of the trailer, the bed was packed as was the jeep. A/C cranking the whole way. Twice I had to take it out of overdrive because I couldn't pass people with it on. Only once did I get below 55 and that was because I got caught in a squeeze play behind to OTR rigs. The only thing that reminded me I had a trailer was always seeing this set of headlights in my rear view mirror. Most of the time I was at or over the 65MPH limit. and I GOT 17.24 MPG calculated at fill up!!!!!
The jeep only gets 16 mpg just pushing itself down the road!
At the end of a twelve hour drive, move and drive my butt and back still felt good.

Great to hear it! I was impressed by my truck, too... maybe its just somethin abt VA. I drove down here from Ohio in February all packed up with all my stuff, and made it on one fill-up in Maryland. My fuel guage is dead, so I figured I outta put some in, pulled in, filled up, and only put in 18 gallons. I was absolutely amazed. And yeah, i was surprised how comfy I was, my mom's Liberty was killin me before I got out of OH last time I came down, but in my truck, I coulda kept goin all the way to Fla and been ok.
VADSLRAM, you were in my area! You crossed the Blue Ridge on I-64, at Afton. I live just south of there, about 10 miles.
I must say, I love my truck too. The Cummins side AND the Dodge side. There are many complaints about these trucks, but I have found that EVERY manufacturer has its issues. I am very satisfied with my truck, and when something goes wrong, I fix it. Nothing lasts forever, no matter who makes it.
