Good answer. I also drive one because it is what I want to drive. Ed B

My old 7.3 was underpowered, got horrible fuel mileage towing, and left me straded way too many times. I pulled with a 91.5 ctd and was hooked on cummins ever since.

Bought it for towing the horses and hauling hay after driving all 3 diesels on the market. Got hooked on the performances aspects while still being able to tow and liked the truck even more. Now I have no interest in owning any gasser trash. This truck has been cheaper to operate not counting performance mods than any gas truck I have owned in the last 23 years or so. No sparkplug wires, caps, pcv valves, 02 sensors, sparkplugs etc.. I change the Airdog fuel filter every 30,000 miles or so. Pull down 19 to 21 mpg all the time on the highway and 15 to 16 while pulling my horsetrailer which is better loaded and pulling than most peoples gasser trucks get running empty in my area due to all of the hills. I get my oil for next to nothing due to having friends and a brother-in-law that run over the road trucks. I get the oil filters through their OTR accounts with the local Pete dealer so I pay the same for a Fleetgaurd or Donaldson that I do for the filter on my Wifes Buick. I installed an Airdog fuel system back several years ago and haven't had to deal with the VP failures or lift pumps issues that others have. So either the Airdog is keeping the air out of the fuel and plenty of fuel supplied or I've got a lucky truck. Knock on wood. My next truck will be another Cummins to keep the one I have now company.

Just because an engine is in a medium duty truck does not mean the engine is rated as medium duty. If that were true I could put a 15L Cummins motor in a Ford and it would be a light duty engine...

Why do you think the 5.9L Cummins is an OPTION in the 650/750? Or in Business class Freightshakers? Its a MEDIUM duty engine. My buddy who has a excavation company had a Kodiak 5500 dump body with the 6.6L/Allison Combo, he traded it in for the same truck with a dealer installed Cummins.

'Cause I've wanted a diesel since I was old enough to figure out that if I sat on the left side of the back seat of the car I could watch all the trucks going by.

Way better Fuel economy. Specially towing the horses and the skidloader, not to mention the lack of wear and tear. Used to pull the horses with an F150 and you couldn't get over 55mph, and only got about 6-8 miles to the gallon doing it, now i have no problem towing the weight and still get upwards of 15 mpg easy. Not to mention i bought a Cummins because i love the big I6 in conparison to the V8's, in both sound and durability.

I work for Chrysler & Cummins is the diesel motor the Dodges come with. That's not to say I don't like it, but if I worked for Ford, I'd have a powerstroke.

i drive it because they are the most reliable longest lasting and get they best fuel milage of any truck on the road.the 5.9l cummins was used and proven in boats gensets pumps and heavy equipment/tractors for years before dodge started using it.thats why i own one some of the other advantages are just a bonus to me.

Well my 99 PSD was giving me fits back in the Spring of 04 so I get rid of it and waited a month or two trying to decide which pickup I wanted. I looked around and was scared to death of the 6.0--worked with a guy who bought an 03 6.0 and it wouldn't stay running long enough to back out of his parking spot. Dmax hadnt been out all that long and truck was several thousand higher than Dodge. So I went with a proven winner and bought the first Dodge truck anyone in our family has ever had. Been a great truck so far...
