i was just thinking about this.. and i do have to say. i dont see too many overly lifted dodges.. and i cant even remember seeing 1 at all. i may be wrong. but there must be somthing in the water that says buy a ford, lift it to the sky, then drive like a jerk and rollit and die!

That's how they've been braking those monster trucks for years. I remember seeing the disk brake on the axles back 15+ years ago.

No, they need a set of 38's, 18.4-38's. Tractor tire of course, would make it more useless than it already is.

 

If they are using the stock rockwell brakes, it just has two. one on each of the differentials. That way the braking force is multiplied by the gearing as well. helps with huge tires. Most of the Rockwell axles were not made with brakes on the ends like most others.

 

No, just two brakes, one on the front pinion, one on the rear. Mounting the brake on the pinion lets the gear reduction of the ring and pinion help slow the truck.

On the monster trucks you can look at the rotor when they are stopping and it is red hot. I'm supprised they don't melt.

 

i have seen rockwells with brakes on the ends of the axle it is just that they are drums and they are huge the wheels you would need would be a wierd size. they make disc brake conversions but they are very pricy. I always thought what if you blow out you gears no brakes or what

The parking brake set-up on my land rover and on my step-van have a drum brake mounted on the back of the transmission. When you brake it brakes all 4 wheels at the same time through the driveshaft.

 

Are you talking about the s-10? It has one, look closer. I couldn't find a pic that shows the rear pinion angle. Unless you guys are looking at different pics than I am.
