White smoke

A couple weeks ago I was following an 18 wheeler up a hill on 101 and all of a sudden white smoke started pouring out his stacks. He pulled over to the side pretty quick. Did he break his engine?

Yes.

White smoke isn't very good unless it's -20 degrees out, then it's normal. Could be fuel or it could be coolant. At least he was paying attention. Most drivers wouldn't even be bothered to look in their mirrors.
