Question Where is a good Cummins or Dodge Service location in Baltimore, Maryland Area

I'm looking for a good Cummins or Dodge Service Center to take my truck to in the Baltimore Area. I prefer north of Baltimore but am willing to drive a little distance for good service. I think my lift pump is about to go out so I'm looking for a shop that doesn't mind some warranty work.

thanks
Bob

shafer and strohminger...right around white marsh.

they gave my old man some BS lst week saying all his ball joints and both wheel bearings were bad due to his oversized tires, but they took my truck in with a banks ottomind installed with wires tapped everywhere and replaced my VP44 under warranty no questions asked

Thanks Getblown5.9. What was your fuel pressure numbers when you took it in? Do they have to be very low before they will replace the lift pump?

Thanks
Bob

i had a fass installed putting out 13psi when i bought the truck used from that dealer. i ran the truck for 10 months with the 0216 code for a bad IP because i didnt know any better when i bought it. finally one day it started the dead pedal and hard starts so i called and took it in. week later free of charge i had a new IP and the fass is still working great.

i think if the lift pump shows signs of weakening they will go ahead and replace for the sole fact that they KNOW it will eventually cause a $2,000 IP job if they let it go

Keene Dodge in Jarrettsville is also pretty good to deal with. You could also try The Diesel Connection on Rt. 40 in Edgewood, they are Cummins experts, but I don't know if they do warrenty work.

Bob, I thought you were getting rid of your truck? What happened?

If you are out of warranty, you might consider the Cummins shop fiveology mentioned, the can end up being cheaper than the dealer in some cases.

fiveology, I think I know where The Diesel Connection is. Is it at the corner of 40 and Mountain Rd? That is good to know they are cummins experts.

P.J., It is still for sale but I'm not trying that hard to sell it. I have in on Autotrader for just below dealer retail. Since I don't really have to sell it I can wait for the right deal. I am starting to like the wife's jeep more but it still doesn't come close to the truck. I'm also still thinking of getting a fiver down the road.

I've noticed my fuel pressure numbers getting lower. I may just need to change my fuel filter. I just have to find time to do it.

I only have 71550 so i think the warranty is good. I'll have to check that in service date to make sure. Heck, do I even have the 7/100 or 5/100. Guess I will have to have someone run the vin.

Bob

On edit: P.J. I just noticed you got your new truck. Now I AM JEALOUS. Looks great! Did you sell or trade your old truck?

diesel connection will do cummins warranty work, i went there to talk to them when trying to get my IP replaced. he said since they didnt install the banks junk on my truck they couldnt warranty the pump. they did the gauges and comp install for a friend of mine who didnt wanna bother with it. he went back and they replaced his IP under warranty since they did the work in the first place.

Bob,thats the place, corner of 40 and mountain, they do great work and are fairly reasonable on price.
P.J. did you sell the wheels with your old truck, if not, and you want to sell them I may be interested.

They went with it, along with all the other goodies I lovingly installed.
The new owner is from Willow Grove, PA. I have yet to see the truck on the road, probably some redneck who could care less about all the extras on it. But, maybe she got a decent owner, you never know........

For the 05-06 "take offs" I would call Newark Dodge, Carman, Advantage, that one in Aberdeen, etc.
You never know when some idiot is going to buy a new truck and have aftermarket wheels installed a week later. I paid $500 for those, about $200 less than what the tires alone would have cost me.

Have appointment 12 SEP for low fuel pressure

Guys,

I made an appointment at Schaefer & Strohminger Dodge of White Marsh that getblown5.9 recommended. Wish me luck! I will also stop by The Diesel Connection sometime and get my last gauge: Trans Temp. I don't feel like doing that one myself, although I installed the other three.

Concerned about in tank pump

Guys,

I will check out Keene Dodge as well. Should I wait until my fuel pressure numbers get lower to take the truck in. I've read a lot of threads here about the in tank lift pump and their lower fuel pressure readings. I'm getting higher fuel pressure readings now then I would if they replaced my lift pump.

Thanks,
Bob

Dealer says my lift pump is within specs

shafer and strohminger service department said my lift pump is within specs. They did give me a copy of the TSB they used. They suggested I take the fuel pressure gauge and relocate it to the VP44 Test Port instead of the bottom of the fuel filter canister. I had to pay a $75 diagonstic fee. Keene Ddoge wanted $99.

I'll just keep an eye on the fuel pressure.
