where to go, does it do any good?

Hi All,
I am in an area of the US that has a horrible rate of vehicle theft. My neighbor- a police officer, said not to bring my truck back for the winter. Would it help to have an alarm system put on the truck or do the thieves know how to disable them anyway? I am at my wits end- about 6-8 vehicles are either stolen/tires taken where I live. I only have a carport.
Thanks

An alarm only works if you're close enough to hear it and fast enough to do something about it that won't get you killed.
You could always pull one the fuses that allows your truck to run.
Can't tell you which one without knowing the year.

Just a thought, but maybe some kind of hidden battery shutoff switch, remove a fuse, etc....may be a pain, but its better than a stolen truck.....

Mount your alarm siren in the cab it will give someone a ear full if they try to take it , mount some bright security lights around your carport so if someone comes around it will light up the neighbor hood

I used to rig a kill switch on my trucks when I lived in San Diego.

Should be able to do something similar with diesels.

The Ravelco is top shelf for security...

I live in South Texas, and have the Ravelco. Gives me a great piece of mind. I also have a small blinking led light on my dash that comes on whenever I shut off the truck. No alarm, just the blinking light, and seems to keep the unwanted masses away. They don't know there is no alarm. Good luck with trying to bypass a Ravelco. Oh, and my Rottweiler and me with my .45!

Install an alarm and a set of train horns. Relay the alarm output to work the train horn solenoid.

Problem solved.

Depending on the model and year, the Revelco could still be bypassed.

There is a way I disable my 07, it got bad around here to. 3 attempted thefts of that truck and I live in a A+ mid rise with a parking garage. I assume the factory alarm scared them off though.

My 03 chevy just has an alarm on it. Which reminds me I need to get some certified original copy plans out of the truck right now. Take the truck, but I do neeed those.

Thanks all-
I am in San Antonio- supposedly a 'good' area, although not a 'wealthy' area. I can't rig outdoor lights, cuz I am in a condo (I can't do stuff like that). Vehicle is a 2012 Toyota Sienna.
I heard about the Lo-Jack- if your key fob is separated from the vehicle by a certain distance, it alerts police of it. The vehicle may be taken, but police get the location of the vehicle. The vehicle is parked about 15 feet from the condo.
Tell me more!

My method for protecting my truck at trail heads is a sleeping bag in the bed stuffed with old clothes with some size 12 logger's boots sticking out the bottom.
