Where did Cummins Originate?

I thought I heard from somewhere that Cummins is originally a British brand or something? Is that true?

Clessie Cummins was developing engines back in the '30s here in the US. Even ran them in the Indianapolis 500. There's a great book about him called "My Days With the Diesel". I can't remember when he actually started.

Just checked it out. He was born in 1888 and started the Cummins Engine Co. in 1919. He also invented the engine brake. What a guy!

Another good book about Clessie Cummins is "The Diesel Odyssey of Clessie Cummins", written by his son, C. Lyle Cummins.
