And yes, some luxuries cost a little more
I drive about 350 mile a week for work... With my trailer. And ditto the previous comment!

Do the the math its kinda like the hybrid VS. the regular version of the car. For what the increased economy of the hybrid it would take a while to pay for the increased cost. So it would cost about a little over 1 1/2 times as much to drive the truck as it would to have a extra car. I'm not one to talk, I've got to trucks, so best of luck on your decision.
Safety is not a concern in the VW Jetta. As Jon stated, the Jetta's safety rating is through the roof. I am pretty sure if I were ever in an accident the thing would puff up like a big soft marshmallow. I know there are at least 8 air bags standard in that car.

As far as fuel economy is concerned, the advertised mileage on a TDI is 43 MPG (highway) and I am doing slightly better than that.

I get plenty of quality time with my truck after work and on the weekends, so that is not an issue. Also, I'm not a small guy, but fit into the Jetta very comfortably. Obviously, I wouldn't want to sit in the backseat. Ultimately, I agree with the others, you should buy what you want and drive whatever makes you happy. I, personally, have been extremely happy driving my "work car" when I'm in my business suit and my "work truck" when I am wearing my Red Wing boots and jeans.

Right on the money. I couldnt justify driving the 98 12er 100 miles a day. sure 20mpg is good, but 50 is better. We were driving a ferd festiva and it got 36mpg, but if I got into an accident with a Geo Metro, it would be close to see if anyone would live. Our 06 jetta tdi is getting 44 mpg (70-75mph) and it is very comfortable. I still have the 02, but I couldnt justify having two cummins. The jetta's are great cars. Plus, tires are alot, ALOT cheaper. I can buy 4 for the price of 1and a half tires on my 02.

6.2 Kilometers

I only drive 6.2 KILOMETERS. The engine don't warm up enough to allow the overdrive to shift...... or the cheeks of my --- to warm up enough to stop shakin'.......

6.2 CanUCKmeters equals out to 4.127 American MILES....one way of course.
