What's the deal?
What's the deal?
Alright,
I was looking in the Classifieds at 3rd Gen trucks recently and can't figure something out....
Why are almost all of the newer trucks short beds? I mean, are most folks buying these trucks as daily drivers and not because they actually need a truck?
I'm just curious because I don't think I could survive with a short bed myself.

But seriously, I think its for towing...
Driving in the city you need the shorter turning radius of a standard size truck. If it had an extended cab & a long bed it would be too long. I see a lot of Ferds that can't park because they are too freaking long for today's parking lots.
A short box is just as long as a standard box when you put the tail gate down. So whats the problem?

I like the looks of shortbeds, but I would rather have the utility of the long bed, and deal with the minor inconveniences. But that is my personal preference.
Shortbeds
I purchased my truck becuase I intend on towing a boat with it, (assuming I ever get it finished) I have had trucks for the last 10 years, and heck I just like trucks.
I had an extended cab but with all the auctions and such that I like to go to the small interior filled up with stuff pretty fast. And with the daily rains on the west coast of Florida you don't want to haul alot in the bed. So I decided on the mega cab, short bed, with a hard top cover.
Even with the short bed it is still half again the length of anything else in the company parking lot. Heck if I had a long bed I would probably be asked to park in back:P
