Today I drained the trans and ridded it of the ATF for good. I recently heard that Mercedes recommends different oil than dodge, confirmed with the local Benz dealer that they don't run ATF in any of their heavy trucks with the G56 so now she's full of amsoil synchromesh and quieter than its been in a long time. Also put on a new grille last night and shortened up the rods in the tail gate to compensate for a very worn out latch mechanism. Last week was South bend clutch, solid flywheel, and the new fluidampr. Christmas came early!

Installed my Mechman 320 amp alternator. No more big power drops when the grid heaters cycle. Nothing like that old urban myth that Dodge disconnects the alternator to save it. The alternator just had nothing to bring to the game.

Gave the beast an oil, filter and lube a couple of days ago. Gave it a good wash today to blast off 1,200 miles of dirt, sand, mud and salt. He looks real handsome now!

Cheers and Happy New Year!

Crawled under and greased everything I could, gonna have to find another one of those right angle grease gun fittings, cracked my last one. Have had plenty of snow to plow and the old girl's been put away dirty a few too many times....almost felt guilty.

After every winter I treat the frame with phosphorus and spray it black, have been missing the coil spring buckets apparently. Not much left of the drivers side, waiting for spring on that one. Along with drivers side rocker, cab corner and both door bottoms. Pass side is done, along with floor pans and intermediate cab mounts on both sides. I love salt.
