Volkswagen TDI what to get
Stay away from the pump deuce motors (changed the injection fuel system). 04 and up if your after super mileage. Hear VW is bringing the common rail to this side of the pond..will see how the added emissions equipment holds up before buying. All VW are a electrical gremlin nightmare. Get the vag-com software from rosstech, you'll need it. My wife's car is a 03 Jetta wagon that pulls 35 mpg ALL CITY on 100% Bio-Diesel. Only problems have been chasing trouble codes related to sensors
I was chatting with a guy at work today who mentioned his girlfriend or some female aquaintance has a Mini Cooper Diesel. I didnt think those were offered in the states. I'm still a bit skeptical, but you never know. Says she loves the car except that there is a quirk on the car that requires the dealer to change the oil. He had a buddy who is ASE certified try to do the oil change. After two hours he gave up. Back to the dealer.
Sorry, dont have TDI's, but do have 2 pre TDI's. Great cars, get about 45 on the hwy, 40 around town if you dont beat on it. One has 240K ( Jetta 5sp) and the other about 160K ( rabbit 5 sp.) Best part, no one tail gates you with the big black mosiquito killer cloud following you. Next car that my wife and I purchase will definitely be a new (er) TDI.
03 TDI 5 spd. 150k miles Mobil 1 oil Fram filter nothing special. 1 alternator. I broken latch inside. Original breaks. Getting 2nd set of tires this week. Normal driving 46 to 49mpg. If I drive 70 my last tank was 54 mpg.
Great car I drive it at least 500 miles a week.
