Valve float????????

Question Valve float????????

Hey guys I was talking to a guy at work to day he's a big mustang guy and he asked me if I had ever herd of the exhaust valves floating from two much back pressure from a turbo. I said that the intake valves could but the exhaust I have never herd of it before. but any thing is possible I have seen stranger things happen. Anybody seen or herd of this happing before or am i just stupid for asking this????

yes its very possible, the drive pressure gets too high on the exhaust side of things and can float the exhaust valves. this is a reason why many 12v's with 4k governor sprigns upgrade to heavier exhaust springs, and also its needed when using an exhaust brake.

Every engine manufacture needs to follow Ducatis lead and design and just eliminate the springs all together! No springs means no floating!

its catch 22... yes no valve spring so no valve float but its also more moving parts to go bad.

My personal experience with them has been great! The valve components have never needed more than just a routine adjustment like any other setup and its good to go. The belts have to be changed regular but what do you expect with a belt setup? I guess I am still in aww over the whole system and the simplicity of it all. I always ask why no one else thought of that before!
