Using ramps for working under truck.

If you run your truck up on ramps in order to work under it , get a heavier set than the ones i have:

Safer than they were , it has less distance to fall now , tire is a little wide for the ramp too

No , it wasn't even my truck that broke them , my fathers 2wd actually broke the ramps, i just rolled mine on there for a photo op. the ramps broke as we drove the truck up on them.

I used to work for an oilfield service company...they used big ramps made from hardwood and would drive 5 ton trucks up on them

would it be easier to buy a jack and some heavy duty jack stands, instead of making some ramps?

I put 315's on my Ram so I wouldn't have to use ramps.

I made some ramps for my Mack out of a 6x6 screwed to a 2x8. I used my planer to slope the approach. I've used them for years without any problems.

I use a set of heavy duty plastic ramps that I bought from AutoZone. I believe they're rated for 12,000 pounds. I've been using them for 3 years now and they show no signs of stress or fatigue.

They look like this except they're dark gray instead of black.

Also, if you are using ramps be sure you use some sort of wheel chocks behind the rear wheels.
