The case isn't the trouble- the driveshaft coming loose is. Regardless of the case, a u-joint smacking into it is going to damage it.
So, whether it is the light duty or the heavy duty, doesn't matter. A hole is a hole. The heavy duty transfer case will be just that much more expensive to replace.
Unfortunately, mine doesn't have a nickel-sized hole. It has a fist-sized hole.

yeah, a fist sized gob of silicone would make me a little ashamed; you would NEVER let anyone under your rig for ANY reason

kind of like letting someone else work on your dodge and leaving bolts loose...

No kidding.
A t-case is on its way from Missouri. No fist sized gobs of silicone for me.

we had the bolt vibrate out of our 4 bolt flange and put a fist size hole in the dld transfer case. We just jb welded a peice of sheetmetal back and it still handles 600 horse pullin just fine.

Stupid question but how long can you drive after this happens. Mine broke same exact way. Drove home no issue but I want to drive it to shop to be repaired. Can I risk it?
