I don't know if you have enough C.I.D to run it efficently, looks like one off from an 855.

It looks like a turbo off of a Detroit 8V92. I don't think Cummins ever used an Air Research turbo as original equipment.

You wouldn't need two, low end would suck, but once you got the fuel flowing it would probably do ok on top end.

I don't know how it would work on your truck. I do know that it was designed to work in tandem with the blower on the 8V92. In my opinion I don't think our ISB will drive it, those 8V92 move a LOT more air than our little 5.9's do.

Yeah, the displacement of the 8V92 is 736 cubic inches, our 5.9 Cummins is 360 cubic inches. That is just over twice the size of our engines. You would need a lot of fuel to get that turbo moving.

Use it on a compound setup. It can't be that hard to make it spool, as long as you use a good bottom. But thats just me thinking anything is possible. Hell just get the blower off it and use that too

Why do you want twins? Is it just for the looks?

Keep in mind that a blower builds no boost on a Detroit. It is only there to move air as the cylinder has to be filled and exausted on every stroke. The only boost comes from the turbo. The engine also moves that 736 cubic inches of air on every revolution.

It is hard to tell from the pics without some measurements, but I can tell you for sure it will not work as a single on anything other than a monster race or pulling engine. Even at that you would need a smaller turbine housing. I run a TV71 Garrett(Airresearch) with a .70 A/R turbine(that one has a 1.05) on one of my turbo gassers that is very similiar to the turbo pictured. It is a 410cid engine and starts making boost around 3800RPM. I suspect it would take that or more to start making boost with a 5.9. I dont know if you would ever get it up to full boost before you ran out of RPM unless you are turning 5K and fueling the **** out of it.

Now, in a compound setup it could most likely be made to work but you would need to do some homework to figure out what turbine housing and what will work as a complimentary turbo with it.

In used condition they are not worth a whole lot unless someone just needs it for a project. I paid $175 for mine on fleabay. If you want to unload it, I might be interested for a future pulling project. PM me.
