I was wandering if you could use a inch pound wrench to do the vlaves on a CTD. 6x12=72inch pounds right. I can't seem to find a 6lp tq wrench.<br>DM01

 

What do you need a 6 lb torgue wrench for? If you are using this for the preload on the feeler guage .... it's 6 inch lbs.<br><br>

Be careful when using the 6in lb wrench on the 12v engines. I had posted awhile back that you could use this tool and shave quite a bit of time off. (Very important if you are a service tech). But, I had only used this tool on the 24v and the 3126 CAT. Little did I know that the valve springs where heavier, stiffer, in the ISB. I tried the wrench on my own truck. 6 in lbs is way too much, the valve spring compressed a good 1/4&quot;.

 

Okie brings up a good point .... I don't use the inch pound method ... watch the spring compression when you do ... feel by hand is much better.
