Tow mirror problems

Ok, i have posted about this before but its getting worse and im getting desperate. I bought some kool-vue towing mirrors for my 97'. I got them on and i fabbed a triangle plate to tighten them down. The mirrors are on good an tight when i try to move them i can move the truck. Here's the dilema, the glass vibrates BAD. It wasnt to bad when i first put them on, i could drive with them flipped up and see behind me. Now even with them flipped down, they vibrate so bad that i almost cant make out what kind of vehicle is behind me. I read a post where a guy took the glass out and tightened the plastic retainer down behind the glass and fixed the vibration problem. Well i tried that following his steps exactly and cracked the glass, so i stopped while i was ahead. So i need help. I need to know how to stop the vibration, but i want to be able to move the glass still for when i flip them up to tow. Does anyone have any suggestions to help, has anyone fixed theres and know how to do it? Im desperate guys. Please help.

Thanks,
Vance

I replaced my broken mirrors on my 2003 with aftermarket replacements, same as OEM style, but at 1/2 price.

I had same problem as you have now, especially when flipped up for towing. Got tired and bought new OEM. Problem fixed.

I am afraid to say you won't have much choice, you can try tighten the big spring retainer underneath the mirror housing but that's about it.

If they are power heated units you can't do the tightening trick.

Get your tires balanced.

If you have a bug shield and the headlight deflectors on your truck this has been known to cause some turbulence problems around the mirrors.

Just my 2 cents.

I use the **** slip ons for towing. They dio not cost much, do not vibrate.
Not as good as OEM, but a fraction of the cost.
