Tire Time.
I've always had good luck with BFGs. Best tire I ever put on my Ford Bronco. This was especially noticeable with the plow on and got 60k miles with tread still left and good traction.
I've lost faith with Goodyear. Put them on my three Suburbans and within 20k miles, every other tread block on the outside and inside was worn at least twice as much as the neighboring block - both on front and rear - all three cars. As a result they only lasted 20k (good thing because I couldn't stand the noise or vibration any more). Goodyear admitted a problem with certain GM vehicles and "their more aggressive tires". 2nd sets on all 3 Subs were Michelins and for longevity and quiet they were great. In snow, they were OK but I think that was because the weight of the Suburbans was more evenly distributed between front and rear than my truck.
I bought my Dodge with Michelins on them and my next set will be BFGs because the Michelins don't give me a lot of confidence even in 4wd when pulling my horse trailer in a muddy field or plowing. I would put Michelins on the family cars again, but the BFGs were much better in snow/mud than anything else I have ever used. So, I'll try them again.

Billy, I think you got screwed. That's an extra $66 every 6,000 miles just for rotation. I've never paid for rotation, just re-balances and tire repairs. I've had two flats on the road, where I never paid more than $20. You need a better negotiator when you go buying something!
I've been looking myself, I decided against the BFG's because of past dislikes with the tires.
I am considering the General grabber AT2's, anybody else run these before? I haven't bought General tire for years, have they upgraded their tires, or are they still the same spotty quality?
Here is a link to the ones I am looking at:

My rig came with GENERALS... THEY HAVE "BULGES" in the sidewalls where the belts meet... I don't like that though I haven't had a 'blowout ' yet... I DON'T like it

Just had a set of BF Goodrich T/A KO 295/75R-16's mounted on my truck about 3 days ago. I ordered them off of the Walmart website and had them delivered to my local Walmart. The tires I believe are excellent tires and problem was with the guys mounting the tires in the Walmart garage. They don't have much if any experience mounting or balancing anything but the regular run of the passenger car tires. Just be sure to stay in the garage and talk to the guy who will be mounting your tires so you can explain NOT to put 80 psi into a load range D tire, 65 psi is MAX, 65 psi in the fronts and 50 psi in the rear tires, align the blue paint dots with the valve stems or if you have after market rims with balance marks or stickers align the blue paint dots with them, and finally to place the wheel balance weights EXACTLY where and as the balance machine tells them. NOT all on the inside of the rim. (I learned this from the BF Goodrich engineer/customer rep who faxed me a section of their tire mount % balance guide....they were very helpful)
On my first test drive after having the tires mounted, the truck shook like an out of balance washing machine. I immediately turned the truck around and took it back to the garage and insisted the tires be rebalances as per my instructions. I should have made them do it when checked the tires and commented on the improper mounting and balance before I left the garage. Once the tires were rebalanced as per my instructions, they were very smooth and little vibration. I have made arrangements to have the tire remounted and rebalanced again next week so the blue paint dots are aligned with the valve stem on my OEM cast wheels. One of the tires they managed to mount with the valve stem nearly aligned with the valve stem and that tire required almost NO balance weights. The others have quite a bit.
So far I have taken the tires off road on a clear cut area on a steep access road. These tires have MUCH improved traction, softer ride, and flexiblity over the Uniroyal 285/75R-16 Walmart Liberator AT's that I previously had. For $128 each, they were fantastic tires but not real good on rough rocky surfaces due to be prone to sharp rock punctures and they were horrible in the mud.
The BF Goodrich tires are a HUGE improvement and so far I am VERY pleased with them. They are VERY quiet with respect to road noise for such an aggressive tread and seem to provide a LOT more soft and smoother ride. They cost $194 each plus the $9.99 Road Hazard Warranty/Life Time rotate and balance plus tax.

I have the BFGoodrich All Terrain TA/KO tires on my truck and they have 60,000miles on them and about 3/8 in of tread left...so the wear has been great. I has similar balancing issues as the previous poster and the whole PSI thing infuriates me also...except for me it was the other way around...I had to tell them to put more than 35PSI in the tire! I will get another set when these are shot. I rotate them when the rears are "square" again and that is about 10,000 miles.
My truck has Pirelli Scorpions on it. They were on the truck when I bought it. I don't know how many miles are on them but they're wearing and holding up nicely. I imagine they're more expensive than BFG's though.
