I guess it depends on how you use it. I've broken two stock dana 80 limited slip units. I've no doubt that I would have shattered at least a few parts in a 14 bolt. Mine was at 450-500 hp or so at the wheels in the state of tune it was in when the breakage occured. Mine is also a 5 speed, which doesn't help when it comes to making rearends last.

Well, I would have to say go for it. I think the TH400 would hold up just fine, the only problem I see with it is, not having overdrive and its hard to find tall gears.

I love my dodge cummins with a 727, and guess what it was orginial made to be used behind gas v8's. And the dodge cummins overdrive transmissions are designed off of them.

GM uses a 4l80e behind a toned down duramax, and guess what the 4l80e was designed off of? answer TH400.

The 14bolt is an awsome axle, In my opinion one of the best ever made for Light trucks.
