Heather, not to . RonsRig, is probably right. I understand evverything is dangerous, but a very experianced instructor that lived down the street from my parents (where I grew up) caugt a shoe the head. It happened to be attached to the horse still. The horse just spooked a little and she went down. ***EDIT*** She used to live down the street; she doesn't live any more. ***
Enough lecture. Got the call today. The truck is totaled. Good/bad. Now the insurance company is saying the gap covereage will not cover anything (through same as auto policy) . Not because it was stolen, just because that is the way thier coverage works. There was never any discolsure of any limitations on the policy, verbally or on the decleration page they sent me. Hopefully with some talking I can get a more positive response from them. I don't want to go to my lawyer but, I have waited to long to do that in the past and it cost me big time. I will not make the same mistake. I am going to start a poll concerning peoples concept of GAP innsurance.

Sorry to hear about the misfortune and the best of luck dealing with the insurance folks. It's a shame when the insurance companies and the companies that provide the GAP insurance don't uphold their agreement without a legal battle. I'd be willing to bet it'd be cheeper for them to make things right than to go through the legal process. Hopefully, the amount is low enough so it can be settled in small claims court if it goes that far. All I have to say to the GAP insurance folks is

Thanks.
My agent was the first to indicate this the other day. There have been some other indications that they may even try to short change me on the Fair Market Value too. We'll see I have to talk to the adjuster today. All the other indications have been from the appraiser. Which I am not sure why she is involved in that end of it. Her job is to say what it is worth and is it worth fixing. The rest is the adjusters problem. I don't know.
Needless to say I have all the proper forms filled out and waiting to turn into the state dept. of insurance. They will find I can be very determined. Sometimes to a fault

lol ron, ive got pleanty of helemts, for the kids. If I were to be killed in a horse accident or by a horse then I would truely die happy. And stuff happens. No matter how safe you are. Look at Christopher Reeves, he was a jumper and wore a helmet. Ive had alot worse happen to me than getting knocked upside the head so I ain't to worried.
Randy im sorry that they are trying to screw you on your wifes truck. I think that is total bs that they are saying the gap wont cover it. Isn't that the whole purpose most of us purchase gap? I would definately not wait to long to get a lawyer involved if they are already pulling this. Alot of times just the mention of a lawyer will change their tune. I hope it all works out for the best, or best that it can in this situation.

Heather, The only concusion I've had was while wearing a helmet during a wipe out on an ATC (threewheeler). I had virtigo intermitantly for a month. If not for the helmet I would have lost half my face (probably not a great loss, but). I do know what you mean about dyeing happy.
I have not heard from the adjuster yet. I left him a message three hours ago... I will probably call the state and lawyers on monday.

Randy,
I have just moved to AZ, Casa Grande. Sorry to hear of the theft of your truck. I have a 2002. 3500. It has some kind of engine immoblizer on it. It must be after market, as I purchased used, with gap ins, and I don't have a "smart key". I will have to find a knowledgeable dealer in the area and find out about that engine immoblizer.
Also there are private insurance adjusters that you can hire, that will work for you and detail the exact loss on your truck, or what ever you loss was. Don't hesitate to get your lawer involved. Need all the help you can get.
We are visiting out daughter in Germany now, or we would be going with the group up to Mt Lemon.
When I had a house fire in Seattle, many years ago, hired a private anjuster and it more than paid for itself in covering the real cost of the loss.
Good Luck,
Davey
