So, how do you drive it?

Drive it like ya stole it?
Live to fill intersections with smoke?
Do you resemble Grandma on a Sunday cruise?
Or do you blend in, just another truck on the road?

I tend to be pretty easy on mine, but once in a while, ya just feel the need to stand right on that skinny pedal. I know there are folks who seem to do some hard driving around here, but what about the rest?

Just curious...

Like a raped date on a coal freight train.

If it ain't to the floor, I ain't driving it. There is a pretty bad dent under my skinny pedal...

I've been trying to keep on it lately. I don't think I'm doing the truck any favors driving it like a grandma and not towing to much.

I tow nothing with my truck. I usually only drive it around town on the weekends and to a few sled pulls. So when I go to the fairgrounds or have a open road I let the coal roll.

So the general concensus thus far is that it is better to hit it a little hard.

handshakers: It is then better to run at higher RPMs in say 4th, instead of letting it lug a little in 5th?

Depends. If I am on it, I stay in 4th all the way to 65. But if I am in town and just getting up to 50 I shift. So If I get on the highway, I usually have to shift into 3rd once I get on the ramp. Then I lay into it and around 62-65 I hit 5th. But when I am just leaving town, going from 40 to 60, I hit 5th at around 50-55. The reason I think is the turbo spool.

I hate it when I have a car pass me if I am doing the speed limit or a little over. I usually drive 55-60. I do not downshift when they get right next to me, I just lay into it.

I drive mine like I stole it but sometimes in town I take it easy. I like to get out on the interstate and open it up to 100mph for short burst. I like to watch how fast the speedo climbs. I like to race up the 6% grade on I-24 near my house. No-one ever passes me going up that mountain. It just ain't gonna happen. Many have tried and many have been left in a haze of smoke. As for around town I'll let it coast and roll in 6th gear down to 40 mph but downshift to speed up and generally cruise around in 5th gear. I have tried many times to drive like a bluehead to see what kind of good mpg I can get but just cannot resist the urge to stomp on it. Those guys getting 20mpg they have a lot more restraint than me

Bout 90% of the time I drive mine decently. Blend in ya know as to not attract unwanted attention. But lately either I've started speeding up or traffic has started slowing down but I just seem to be driving that much harder and faster. Oh well.

I drive mine fairly hard...always givin er around everywhere. In town I will usually take it easy unless I want to hear my exhaust bounce off the buildings, love that sound. And it's funny, my truck is stock and its still fun to drive, can't wait until i get some money into it!

I finally saw you and your truck rollin through town the other day... Nice rig! You must have been in a mello mood because you were pokin around pretty slow...

I am pretty mixed but lately I am taking it easy... I need tires soon and my wife likes to remind my every time she hears a chirp... Tell you what's fun is waiting for a little rain and slipping it into 4wd at an intersection and getting someone to race you off the line... They will just about spin it around trying to get a grip while you sail away in a cloud of smoke

Most of the time I drive as clean and quiet as I can - but when there's clear road ahead I'll use it up.
